Provincial Blackout Begins

Provincial Advertising Black Out Begins

The Manitoba Government has imposed an advertising blackout effective June 12. This is normally done 90 days before a provincial election to ensure that the sitting government is not using Government funds to assist in the election campaigning. Most people are now predicting an election in early September.

While the blackout is necessary to ensure the democratic process is fair, WCA has raised concerns in the past when the Blackout period interrupts the potential tendering of provincial projects.  We will be monitoring to make sure that projects continue to be tendered.

If you, as WCA members, see instances where the tendering has discontinued please contact Darryl Harrison, Manager – Policy, at
