Federal government expands CERB

This morning, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the Canada Emergency Response Benefit would be expanded to include the following workers who originally didn’t qualify:
  • Those who earn less than $1,000 a month

  • Those who have run out of EI benefits

  • Those who were expecting to have a seasonal job that is no longer available
Full details on the changes are on the government's website here.

Trudeau also alluded to more support coming for students and businesses who are struggling to pay their commercial rent. We expect announcements on these issues this week.

Provincial call centre to help with federal aid

Earlier this week, Premier Brian Pallister announced the province had contracted 24-7 Intouch to help local businesses access federal programs including the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy and the Canada Emergency Business Account.

While the phone lines aren't open yet, businesses are able to essentially pre-register for this service. If you're interested in receiving direct help accessing the federal government aid programs, click here and fill out the requested information.

More Hand Sanitizer Available

WCA has received another shipment of Hand Sanitizer from Patent 5 Distillery. We're selling it at cost ($10/250 ml bottle) to members.

After announcing this shipment on Monday we still have a fair amount of stock left - so we're raising the purchase limits for members. Member firms are now allowed to purchase up to 25 bottles, even if they have ordered previously.

If we still have stock remaining after this, we will open up sales to non-members. We will also be gauging demand to see if we should make another large order.

In order to make sure these bottles are going out to members, you'll need to log in to your WCA account to access the order form. The link below will take you to the order form and prompt you to sign in.

You can access the order form here.
