Proof of Immunization required in CEC November 1

In our ongoing effort to protect the safety and health of our staff and guests, the Winnipeg Construction Association’s Board of Directors has made the decision to require proof of immunization from COVID-19 for anyone attending training, meetings, or events in the Construction Education Centre (CEC) at 1447 Waverley Street in Winnipeg. This temporary policy will go into effect on November 1, 2021.

We realize this is a sensitive topic for many, and we hope we can answer some of your questions below:

Q: Does this apply to anyone entering the building?

A: The new policy applies to anyone attending training, meetings, or events in our Construction Education Centre and anyone spending more than 15 minutes in our offices. If you are picking something up or dropping something off there is no need to show proof of immunization. As an assurance to all our guests, we’re happy to say that 100 per cent of WCA and CSAM staff are fully immunized.

Q: When does this policy come into place and how long will it be in place for?

A: We realize many members are not yet fully immunized, are waiting for their second dose or are currently in the three-week waiting period after their second dose. For this reason we are instituting a grace period — the proof of immunization policy will go into effect on November 1, 2021.

We also want to stress that we anticipate this being a temporary measure. While we can’t currently pick out a date when this will no longer be necessary, at this point in time we feel it is in the best interest of our staff and guests.

Q: I’ve already purchased courses for WCA Education — what are my options if I do not have proof of immunization?

A: If you’ve already purchased a course but can’t attend, we have a number of options for you including:

  • The ability to transfer your course to a co-worker.
  • Credit for an online course or a course at a later date.
  • Refund for the purchase (refund must be requested at least one week prior to course date)

If you need to explore these options, or if you have any further questions, please email us at wcaeducation@winnipegconstruction.ca or give us a call at 204-775-8664.

Fall Golf 2021 Winners

We had an absolute blast at this year’s Fall Golf Tournament held at Hecla Lakeview golf course. The weather was perfect, the company was better and the day went great (even if a few of us had to walk due to a shortage of power carts).

First off – thanks to our fantastic sponsors. The tournament wouldn’t be possible without you all, and the golfers appreciated the snacks, gifts and adult beverages handed out on the tee boxes.

And now for the winners!

Ladies Longest Drive: Tina Larson – Team Lafarge
Men’s Longest Drive: Adam Markewich – Team Crane Steel

Ladies Closest to the Pin: Daidre Shedden – Team Ambassador Sales
Men’s Closest to the Pin: John Schubert – Team McCaine Electric

Congratulations to all the individual winners.

The winning team, with a final score of 60 (-12), is Team AMC Foam made up of Stephen George, Reid Ferguson, Jaret Klymchuk and Craig Taylor. Congratulations on a fantastic day, including an eagle 3 on the seventh hole!

Thanks again to everyone who came out to the tournament – we can’t wait to do it again next year!
