WCA Committees
The Winnipeg Construction Association (WCA) operates several key committees to support its members and address industry concerns. Here’s a summary of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Government Relations, and Standard Practices committees:
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Committee
The ICT Committee is dedicated to advancing technology adoption and innovation in the construction industry. Its mission is to identify, promote, and support tools and processes that enhance project management, collaboration and data use. The committee is seeking members who are actively involved in developing or utilizing innovative products and practices, with a goal of encouraging broader adoption across the industry.
Government Relations Committee
The Government Relations Committee plays a crucial role in representing the construction industry to policymakers at all levels of government. It advocates for policies that support the industrial, commercial, and institutional construction sectors, addressing key challenges such as regulatory burdens, infrastructure investment and workforce development. The committee develops industry-wide policy positions by consulting with members and presenting these priorities to decision-makers, ensuring the industry’s interests are effectively communicated. This committee is seeking members who are interested in developing policy and advocacy positions for the WCA membership.
Standard Practices Committee
The Standard Practices Committee is a cornerstone for maintaining and improving the operational standards of Manitoba’s construction industry. It oversees critical resources like the Manitoba Trade Definitions, which provide consistent guidelines for trade responsibilities, and the Technical Bulletins, which offer practical advice on specific industry issues. By addressing existing challenges and refining best practices, this committee ensures fairness, clarity and efficiency in construction processes. Its work supports the industry by fostering continuous improvement in standard practices.
